Lieberman’s comment came in statements to Israeli radio this morning, Sunday, in response to the launch of two rockets from the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, into the interior of Israel, and the Israeli army bombed the infrastructure and Hamas sites on the Strip.
Lieberman, head of the Yisrael Beytenu party, claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policy is to abandon the residents of Gaza and southern Israel, and that his government hides its head in the sand until another “monster” like Hezbollah appears.
And Lieberman added: “Hamas is making leaps in military development and, with the Islamic Jihad Movement, it produces rockets every day and is boosting operations in the West Bank.”
In the same context, the Israeli army announced, on Sunday morning, the bombardment of sites in Gaza with helicopters and tanks, which it said was in response to the launch of missiles from the Strip.
The army said in a statement that “two rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel tonight, and in response, our forces shelled Hamas infrastructure and military sites in Gaza.”
This morning, the Israeli army announced that two rockets were fired from Gaza into central and southern Israel. According to Israeli media, explosions were heard Saturday night and Sunday over the city of Ashkelon, and residents reported seeing a missile interception operation.
