On Thursday, the Israeli army admitted to carrying out 50 air strikes against targets inside Syria during 2020, in a statistical report published by the “Jerusalem Post” newspaper, considering that 2020 was one of the “safest” years for Israel during the last decade.
The newspaper noted that the latest attack on Syrian territory took place on Tuesday, which resulted in the death of one Syrian soldier and the wounding of three others.
The report says that in addition to those raids, the Israeli military carried out 20 targeted operations, especially on the Lebanese and Syrian borders, and thwarted two advanced explosive device placement operations along the Syrian borders.
The Israeli army said its forces managed to thwart another attempt by a “Hezbollah” cell to carry out an operation on the Syrian border, in addition to discovering and thwarting the effects of two explosive device fields on the border with Syria and liquidating a “cell. terrorist”.
It stated that data from the Israeli Air Force indicated a notable increase in “battle between wars” activities taking place with the aim of “repelling the enemy’s attempts to position itself on Israel’s borders and protect itself from the next war.” .
He added that Israeli fighter jets made 1,400 operational sorties last year, in addition to more than 400 helicopters, adding that remotely activated aircraft have flown some 35,000 hours since the beginning of the year.
On the Lebanese front, the report accused Hezbollah of attempting to carry out two attacks against Israel, claiming that both attempts were thwarted. He added: “In the north square, which was marked by a prolonged warning of retaliatory attacks by Hezbollah, there were ten attempts to cross the border fence from Lebanon.”
With regard to Gaza, the report indicated that the Palestinian resistance factions fired 176 rockets during 2020; 90 of them fell in open areas, while another 80 were intercepted.
The report claimed the discovery of an attack tunnel built by the “Hamas” movement that crossed borders, in addition to the occupation air forces launching attacks to hit 300 targets.
