The station quoted a senior official as saying that Israel is in contact with Pakistan, Indonesia, Niger, Mali, Djibouti, Mauritania, Comoros, Brunei, Bangladesh and the Maldives.
Israel’s Channel 13 report mentioned that Saudi Arabia is working with the administration of US President Donald Trump to pressure many other countries to sign normalization agreements with Israel, possibly before the administration of the president-elect. Joe Biden takes office next month.
The report said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was following the matter closely, in an attempt to pave the way for a final settlement between the Israelis and the Saudis. The report also predicted that the Sultanate of Oman, which praised the Israeli-Moroccan agreement, will be next.
He also mentioned that Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world, wishes to establish public relations with Israel.
Channel 13 said that while a full normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia is unlikely to be reached in the coming weeks, it is possible to persuade Riyadh to take smaller steps towards normalization.
After the Emirati-Israeli announcement last August to normalize relations between them, Saudi Arabia agreed to allow Israeli flights to use its airspace.
In the same context, diplomatic sources confirmed to Israel’s Channel 12, last Friday, that Saudi Arabia played a role in the normalization agreement negotiated by Trump between Israel and Morocco.
The “Times of Israel” newspaper stated that the report did not detail the role of Saudi Arabia in the deal, which was announced on Thursday. Riyadh has also not officially commented.
