Israel and Bahrain sign diplomatic relations document on Sunday

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that a document on the establishment of diplomatic and peaceful relations with Bahrain will be signed on Sunday in the capital, Manama.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the head of the National Security Authority, Meir Bin Shabat, will lead a mission to Bahrain on Sunday in the first commercial trip between the two countries.

He indicated that the members of the Israeli delegation will hold talks with senior Bahraini and US officials on the following areas: aviation, transportation, technology, industry, trade, money, tourism, agriculture, diplomatic relations, health and culture.

The statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office added: “During the visit, a document on the establishment of diplomatic relations and peaceful relations between Israel and Bahrain will be signed.”

He continued: “Memorandums of understanding will also be signed on various bilateral issues in order to pour practical content into relations between the two countries and strengthen cooperation between them.”

Netanyahu’s office indicated that “Israel attaches great importance to this visit and its content and to strengthening its relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields.”

The US delegation will be led by Treasury Secretary Stephen Minuchin and will include White House Middle East envoy Avi Berkowitz.
