American drugmaker Moderna announced Monday that its vaccine designed to prevent the emerging corona virus has been approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health, marking the first time the company’s vaccine has been approved outside of North America.

The Israeli Health Ministry said it had guaranteed six million doses and expected the first batch of the vaccine to arrive in January, according to “Moderna” in a statement.

The vaccine has received approval from the United States and Canada for emergency use in an effort to slow the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, and is currently under review in the European Union, Great Britain, Singapore and Switzerland.

Israel has started vaccination operations with the highest rate in the world and plans to reach all top priority citizens by the end of January.

Israel used the vaccine developed by “Pfizer” and “Biontech” in the vaccination campaign that it launched on December 19.

The Bank of Israel expected, on Monday, the economy to grow again in 2021, if the country keeps pace with vaccination.

In a separate context, Moderna said it will produce at least 600 million doses of Corona vaccine in 2021, which is 100 million doses more than a previous announcement, adding that it is working to raise the operating and production value to provide close of a billion doses this year.

Moderna has provided the United States government with around 18 million doses, as part of an agreement that includes 200 million doses, and has also signed an agreement to supply Canada with around 40 million doses.
