The number of deaths in Iran increased again and reached 6,854, after 71 cases were recorded. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Kyanosh Jahanpur, said that in the last 24 hours there were 1,808 injured, for a total of 114,533 cases. In statements issued by state television, he added that the number of people who recovered from the virus reached 90,539 people.

In the same context, the Iranian authorities have expressed fear that there may be potential “Covid-19” outbreaks in at least three provinces. “The situation is similar to what we have seen in recent days in most provinces, but it is still critical in Khuzestan (southwest), and may also be critical in North Khorasan (northwest),” Jahanpur said.
He added: “If the situation continues as it is, North Khorasan will also need serious measures.”
Likewise, the Ministry of Health indicated that “there has been a decrease in Khuzestan, with an increase in the number of hospitalizations and a lack of respect for health measures.”
On this basis, the authorities have closed government departments, banks and commercial activities deemed unnecessary in the governorate.

Low oil exports
Iranian oil exports fell to a record low as the Corona virus crisis worsened, following US sanctions already limiting shipments. Exports averaged 70,000 bpd in April, down from 287,000 in March.
“We have seen a decrease in Iranian exports, which was driven by a decrease in Chinese purchases … We do not expect any improvement in Iranian crude exports in May,” said Daniel Gerber, CEO of Petro-Logistics, which tracks the flows.
The drop in oil demand due to the government’s general isolation measures to contain the Corona virus and the drop in prices increased the options available to buyers, making it more difficult to find customers willing to buy Iranian crude at in light of the reimposition of sanctions by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, two years ago.
