Separately, Iran provided more details on its enrichment decision on Tuesday, saying it has the capacity to produce up to 9 kg of enriched uranium at 20% purity per month.
And state media reported that Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said: “We currently produce 17 to 20 grams of enriched uranium with a purity of 20% every hour. We have a monthly production capacity of 8-9 kg to reach the 120 kg stipulated by Law “.
The decision to enrich uranium to 20% purity was one of many measures mentioned in a law passed by the Iranian parliament, which is dominated by the hardliners, last month in response to the assassination of the country’s top nuclear scientist, by which Tehran blamed on Israel.
Tehran began gradually reducing its commitments to the nuclear deal in 2019 in response to Trump’s withdrawal in 2018 and the reimposition of US sanctions under it.
