Iranian Vice President for International Relations Hossein Amir Abd al-Lahyan said security forces identified the parties who ordered the implementation of the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and arrested some of his perpetrators.
This came from Abd al-Lahian’s remarks to the Iranian Arabic-language channel Al-Alam on Tuesday about Fakhrizadeh’s assassination near the capital Tehran on November 27.
“The security forces identified the authorities who ordered the execution of the murder and arrested some of the perpetrators,” Abdel-Lahian said, without giving further details.
He added that the details of the case will be released by the competent authorities.
On November 27, Iran announced the death of 63-year-old Fakhrizadeh, known as “the godfather of the nuclear deal,” after his car carrying him was attacked near the capital, Tehran.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described the assassination as an “Israeli trap”, promising to respond in a timely manner. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard also threatened “harsh revenge”, accusing Israel of being behind his assassination.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Twitter that “there is important evidence about Israel’s involvement in the murder of Fakhrizadeh.”
