Industry and Agriculture Ministers Emad Hoballah and Abbas Mortada confirmed the support of the productive sectors in Bekaa, especially the agri-food industry sector, and are working to combat smuggling and illegal crossings.

The statements of the two ministers came during a meeting in Zahle, at the invitation of the head of the Industrial Group in Bekaa, Nicolas Abu Faisal.

Mortada noted that “in a government that faces challenges, we have plans, points of view and ideas, and we are determined in the government to transform the economy from a rentier economy to a productive economy, and this problem is not achieved quickly, but it needs work and time, and during this stage we start to make achievements and next week we will launch fields. The mothers of all fruit trees are in the interest of agricultural research, and for two months we have been testing, and all the seedlings we import from abroad are rooted in our land. ” He considered that “the most important thing about this is that we will be able to export these seedlings abroad and we will work to ensure local fruits throughout the year.”

He noted that “the Ministry of Agriculture is permitting land in Lebanon today, and we will present a bill to impose a £ 1,000 tax for every hectare not cultivated in Lebanon, to encourage agriculture, and all people are called to join forces between the public and private sectors, hoping to free up industrial funds to develop factories.

Factory tour

Mortada and the love of God toured various factories in Zahle and the neighborhood, and the start was from the factories of the “Gardenia Gran Dor” complex for the food industries, inspected their apartments and explored the stages of work within it.

After that, the ministerial delegation moved to the Ethel chocolate factory in the industrial city of Zahle, and was greeted by the President of the Board of Directors, the ship’s structure, who arranged a tour for the delegation on the production lines. at the factory, and the delegation explained the problems faced by the factory, which stopped operating a week ago due to interrupted navigation. Air due to the Corona epidemic, the fact that the factory is working to export 60% of production abroad, in addition to the high exchange rate of the dollar, praising the plans of the Ministry of Industry to advance in the industrial sector.

The delegation then moved to the “mimosa” laboratories at the bottom of Al-Reem, where Wissam Al Tanoury received the Chairman of the Board. The two ministers reviewed the paper and nylon production lines and reviewed the reality and problems of the sector in terms of the inability to continue insuring raw materials. The two ministers emphasized that “the priority today in Lebanon is to support these sectors and reduce the import bill and improve the Lebanese national production and export bill, and this production will have the full support of the current government.”

After that, attendees moved to the “Panda Plast” laboratories in Ablah, where they were greeted by the factory owner Issam Qasim and his son, Council President Ali Qasim, and toured the production departments, and were checked several industries that were imported in recent years, and today have become an essential industry inside and outside Lebanon.
