As with every new vaccine, side effects are expected from the product of the American company “Pfizer” and the emerging corona virus from the German antivirus “Biontech”, at a time when the British authorities have already begun to monitor the appearance of some of these symptoms.
The American Wall Street Journal cited the details of the vaccine analysis by the US Food and Drug Administration.
The US authorities say that the effectiveness of the vaccine “Pfizer” and “Biontech” reaches 95 percent, a few days after receiving the second dose of the same.
But the Food and Drug Administration revealed that the drug’s effectiveness varies slightly from person to person due to several factors, including age.
During clinical trials, participants said they experienced the following side effects:
63 percent said they experienced fatigue, 55 percent experienced headaches, 32 percent said they had chills, 24 percent experienced joint pain, and 14 percent experienced fever.
There was a fairly strong but extremely rare side effect called “Bell’s palsy,” which is a sudden, temporary weakness of the facial muscles that resolves within a few weeks.
The Food and Drug Administration said it found this symptom in only 4 people who had received the vaccine.
64 people reported a case of swollen lymph nodes.
On the other hand, the British authorities said that they had detected side effects with the launch of the vaccination campaign, as is common with new vaccines, and the side effects were related to allergic reactions.
And the British Medicines Control Authority recommended that those with a history of severe allergic disease not get the vaccine.
The head of the US team assigned to develop the Corona vaccine, Moncef Al-Salawi, said that allergic reactions were not a big problem during the trials of the “Pfizer” and “Biontech” vaccine in the United States, in which more than 20 thousand people.
He added in statements released by US media that “the experiments did not include people suffering from severe sensitivity,” indicating that his team would discuss the matter.
On Tuesday, Britain had launched the largest vaccination campaign in its history to vaccinate the elderly and healthcare workers against the Corona epidemic, and became the first country in the world to distribute “Pfizer” vaccines and “Biontech”.
This vaccine is administered in two doses, 21 days apart, with the exception of children and pregnant women.
