In response to the controversy over the fate of a cargo of fish that Lebanon received from Mauritania, the Lebanese Army issued an explanation saying: “Previously, the Army Command received a cargo of fish weighing about 12 tons offered to the Lebanon from the State of Mauritania, and immediately after its delivery it stored it in accordance with the rules and in accordance with the conditions of public security. “.

The statement added that the army command “communicates with a series of associations that prepare meals to cook fish and distribute it to those affected by the port explosion.”

The army’s explanation came after many Lebanese activists interacted with the hashtag # I want your fish, where Lebanese journalist Naim Berjawi tweeted on his Twitter page, saying: “I know many poor people who did not receive any of the tons of fish (12 tons) that the sister state of Mauritania provided as aid to Lebanon after the #Beirut explosion, knowing that the cheapest kilo of fish in Lebanon today is not less than 35 thousand pounds! # I want my fish “

A young man named Hassan wrote: “If we consider that the Lebanese are 6 million people, and the Mauritanian government sold 12 tons of fish, which means that every citizen comes up with 2 grams of fish, a slightly sour face. Here myself, I don’t know.

As for the young Hayat, she scoffed at the disappearance of the Mauritanian fish, on her Twitter page, where she wrote, commenting: “A Vietnamese restaurant whose floor is water in which fish swim between customers’ feet … Soon a branch in Lebanon # I want my fish ”.

On August 17, the Mauritanian authorities sent two planes loaded with fish, weighing up to 12 tons, to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, as aid to Lebanon, as a result of the explosion in the port of Beirut.
