The global battle with the Corona virus continues, especially after several countries detected infections with the mutated Corona virus, and with Lebanon announcing its complete shutdown from next Thursday until February 1, it is necessary to remember how to act in case a relative infected with Corona.
The United States CDC has provided guidance on what to do if one family member has the coronavirus, while the others do not.
Internal separation
– “The patient should be separated from others at home”, according to the guidelines reported by The National Interest.
However, those living with the infected person should continue to check their status in isolation.
If possible, have the sick person use a separate bedroom and bathroom.
Also, if possible, have the sick person live in a separate room (sick room) or in their own area away from others.
What to do if a member of your family is infected with the Coronavirus
Try to stay at least 6 feet (one meter and 82 cm) away from the sick person.
For those who have to live in a narrow common space, people are advised to open the windows to maintain air flow and at the same time improve ventilation.
How to handle food utensils
A sick person should eat separately from other family members, while their dishes should be washed with gloves and hot water (and of course with washing powder).
Any plate, cup or utensil used by the sick person should be handled with gloves.
Wash the food used by the patient with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.
Do not share towels or other items with the patient.
Jaws and continuous cleaning
People who live in a household with a person who is sick with the coronavirus should clean surfaces and other things regularly.
In addition to all of the above, the sick person should wear a mask and any caregiver in contact with this person should wear a mask.
– If you cannot avoid close contact with the sick person at home, the CDC also recommends that you stay home during isolation and for 14 days after that, this will ensure that you do not risk transmitting COVID-19 to others people outside your home.
Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19.
