Commenting on the video related to berth No. 16, which falsely included the collapse of said pier, which is intended to offend the port of Beirut and its pioneering role, we explain the following:
First of all, we have to differentiate between berth 16 and the adjacent yard, which is intended for container storage, and they are completely independent from each other, technically, engineering and constructively.

A- Berth B16:

Berth 16 is built on piles of steel tubes, each with a diameter of one meter and depth of up to 75 meters piercing and fixed with natural rock and over it for winches and railways, and the berth is completely safe, indivisible and waterproof.

As for the cranes, they are loaded on rails in crucified bridges with reinforced iron, and in berth 16 and not in the storage yard, and these bridges in turn are loaded with densely distributed numbers of piles according to a scientific study dedicated to such a load, so that the dock and winches are completely safe.

B- Storage yard:

There is behind berth 16 and adjacent to it, the construction joint is independent and is between the sidewalk and the patio, and from there the patio begins to store containers and the patio is built on the compacted fill, which is a fill of High specification, especially for marine works, and it is completely independent of the dock and crane rail being stacked. By dynamic compaction, which increases the required soil density ratio.

And through the basic design of the German company Sellhorn, it was mentioned that there will be a downward movement of the soil floor in the last small part of the storage yard near the Beirut river as a result of alluvial deposits of very soft clay that the river carries away. into the water depth with the rest of the sediment within the storage area. The aforementioned company expected the aforementioned partial decline in a post-construction period of time within ten years.

The occurrence of this partial decline is natural as it occurs in similar international facilities, as it is a technical and engineering matter.

We note here that maintenance work on the aforementioned landing in the simple part of the patio has already begun.
