Former Vice President Biden is reportedly close to his entire family, including his daughter Ashley, 39, the only daughter from his second marriage, which followed the tragic car accident that killed his daughter Naomi (15 months) and her first wife Nelia in 1972. He lives a less public life than his two brothers, Hunter and Beau, who died in 2015 of brain cancer.
Born in 1981, Ashley holds a BA in cultural anthropology from Tulane University in New Orleans, before earning an MA in social services from the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2014, Ashley Biden became executive director of the Delaware Center for Justice, which focused her work on achieving criminal justice.
On a personal level, Ashley married plastic surgeon Howard Crane, in 2012, who works at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Ashley ran a virtual campaign for her father at a Wisconsin Women For Biden event that focused on discussing the goals of their women’s rights platform as they address the pay gap, healthcare and child care. He also spoke at a hypothetical Biden meeting in North Carolina.
He said during the event: “I am here today because I adore my father, but I also firmly believe that he has the personality and vision to lead this country.”
