Reuters KARAMALLAH THEREFORE
Today, Monday, the Lebanese “National Information Agency” reported that explosions and artillery fire were heard in southern Lebanon, as smoke rose inside the occupied Golan.
The agency said loud explosions were heard reverberating in some towns in the Marjayoun district, and this coincided with rising smoke inside the occupied Syrian Golan.
The agency also stated that it heard from inside the occupied Shebaa farms the sound of heavy artillery shells, echoing even in the villages of Al-Arqoub and Hasbaya, indicating that the causes of these are not yet known.
He added that these events coincide with an intense sweep of medium and heavy machine guns around hostile sites within the occupied Lebanese territories.
The Israeli-Lebanese border area is experiencing significant tension following the assassination of Lebanese “Hezbollah” member Ali Kamel Mohsen in an Israeli raid on July 20 against a military site near Damascus international airport in Syria.
On July 27, the Israeli army announced that it had foiled a “sabotage” operation attempting to carry out a “Hezbollah” affiliated cell on the border between Lebanon and Israel, when multiple sources reported exchanges of gunfire and explosions heard in the disputed Shebaa Farms area, while Hezbollah denied the allegations. Subsequently, the region witnessed several shootings.
