Despite warnings and instructions to limit the spread of Corona in Lebanon, the virus continues to spread in the crisis-ridden country, mainly due to the failure of many Lebanese to abide by isolation instructions and social distancing measures.

Despite this, the violation of the instructions was not limited this time to the common Lebanese, but reached the Authority officials, who beat one of them with demands to isolate himself, expose himself to the wall, after being infected with Corona , and practice their work naturally, spreading the virus on a broader scale.

The actions of the Vice President of the Union of Eastern Baalbek Municipalities, Atrif Shoman, who is infected with the Coronavirus, prompted the Governor of Baalbek, Hermel Bashir Khadr, to file a judicial complaint against him, accusing him of “endangering the people’s lives “, which means that if he is convicted, he will be sentenced to 6 months.

The Baalbek governor said that the vice president of the East Baalbek Federation of Municipalities continues to live his life normally despite being infected with the Coronavirus, and recently met world champion Muhammad Fakhreddin at the Beirut airport.

He added in a tweet on his official Twitter account, that he is aware of his infection with Corona (Schuman), and yet he continues his daily life normally, mixing with people and attending events, and yesterday he receives people at the airport . He is the vice president of the East Baalbek Union of Municipalities Atrif Schumann.

He continued: “As a result of Atrif Shoman’s actions, we initiate a lawsuit against him, to endanger people’s lives, in accordance with Article 604, that is, if he is charged with 6 months in prison.”

In a subsequent tweet, the Governor of Baalbek stated that East Baalbek Municipal Union Vice President Atrif Shoman knew that he had Corona 9 days ago, and has not yet completed the mandatory quarantine period. I am doing my job. And my duty, and I won’t be affected by a statement from here or a threat from there just because I do. Compliance with the law. ”

Lebanon is suffering from an increase in “Corona” virus infections, at a time when the country is experiencing economic and political crises, and a severe burden on hospitals, many of which have become unable to care for those infected.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the registration of 1,012 new infections, bringing the total number of infected cases to (36,240).

The rise in injuries comes amid great suffering in the healthcare sector in Lebanon, especially as many healthcare facilities are experiencing financial difficulties and witnessing a liquidity crisis even before the epidemic spreads.

Amid this, calls continue from various quarters for the Lebanese to adhere to the measures, especially as hospitals in Lebanon are the hardest hit by facing Corona, while the capacity for an additional number of Corona patients is decreasing.

The head of the Health Committee in the Lebanese Parliament, Representative Assem Araji, said, in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio on Sunday, that “the country has become a stage in a major outbreak of the disease.” and noted that “the rate of injuries and deaths is increasing, which means that the family is in government hospitals and some hospitals.” The private sector has been filled and there are more than 1,000 injured in the medical sector. ”

Araji warned that “Lebanon is entering a very dangerous stage, saying:” We have become the Italian model, and everyone must take the necessary precautions, and the ministries concerned must act. ”
