Former Minister Wiam Wahab demanded that the former army commander, Gen. Jean Kahwaji, reveal his bank accounts, accusing the latter of having “40 million dollars in his account.”
Wahhab’s words came during a television interview, in which he said: “The army commander when the ammonium nitrate steamship was introduced, did not move his body to eliminate the potential danger to Beirut and its people, and he found he had $ 40 million in his account. ” Furthermore, Brigadier General Muhammad al-Husseini, director of the army commander’s office at the time, was charged with having “$ 20 million in his account.”
Noting that: “Ammonium nitrate” was not confiscated or seized by the army command during General Kahwaji’s era, and if Wahhab had any evidence regarding the financial accounts of General Kahwaji or Brigadier General Al-Husseini, please provide tests.
He noted that: “An investigation was carried out on the financial accounts of Brigadier General Al-Husseini and he was acquitted,” noting that “General Kahwaji does not have the sum of forty million dollars, and if there is evidence, it is presented.”
