Hassan launched new technology to diagnose HIV infection in arrivals

Acting Government Minister of Public Health Hamad Hassan launched the new technology to diagnose coronavirus infection in Beirut on arrivals to Lebanon via the airport using the sense of smell of trained dogs, and this technique was achieved by a team of French and Lebanese researchers, including an inventor. This technique is Dr. Riad Sarkis.

This technology was launched in the presence of Minister Hamad Hassan, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Engineer Fadi Al Hassan, Dr. Riyad Sarkis and a delegation representing the French Embassy in Lebanon and the Head of the Department of Health in the airport, Dr. Hassan Mallah.

Minister Hassan spoke and said: “There is no doubt that we are living in a decisive stage in epidemiological behavior, and we must use all the methods that prevent the dangerous outbreak that we have reached, and secure this technology at the airport with such precision. and high sensitivity certainly saves us from performing many, if not thousands, of tests that we use per scan. We perform in the closed areas within the red zone, and at the same time we monitor the examinations of some countries so that in a first stage we balance between PCR tests and diagnosis by trained dogs, and subsequently and gradually these dogs can be used in front of some institutions or civil, military or security meetings Within the Lebanese territories, that is, it can be used at the gates of universities , schools, institutions and public administrations as well as from many countries of the world such as France and the airport of the Emirates, and we believe that with this technology we can strengthen our preventive strategy to contain what can be contained from the social outbreak that is in the goal and desired goal with everyone. Measures taken by the Ministry of Health in Lebanon “.

Minister Hassan said: “I mentioned it yesterday in an interview to clarify the Spanish scenario in terms of the injury rate and the incidence rate without approaching the death rate, and that we are still up to date with the injuries, containing the injured, isolating them, placing them in quarantine and providing them care either in their homes or in quarantine centers to avoid the Spanish scenario or Italian deaths in terms of the number of deaths and the acceleration of the incidence “.

And he added: “We approach the Italian stage with one or two items, but we try hard and try not to fall into what we fear, which is the record of the enormous number of injuries that our public and private health system does not accommodate due to one side, and moral tolerance, God forbid, to the death toll. “

Hassan noted that, “according to Middle East Airlines, the amount of fifty dollars will no longer be deducted from the price of the PCR test for those who do not take this test again at the airport, but this amount is deducted from arrivals from countries not reliable. “

He added: “This technology that we apply today requires expenses in terms of human, logistical and technical personnel.”

Hassan pointed out that “there are four trained dogs that the French team will present as a gift to the airport team at the end of next month, in addition to the dogs available to the security services, which can participate in this framework.”

Minister Hassan said: “In the first stage, according to the experience we have made, we will continue to do PCR tests in parallel with the dog diagnosis, and the result reaches 100 percent even in the virus incubation stage, and with this technology we can test about two hundred travelers on a flight, in 45 minutes. ” In other words, with little time, and in this way we can identify and isolate the injured person before they join society ”.

The Minister of Health considered that “this new technology is an innovative and civilized new idea and that the richest countries in the world are using it.”

Regarding the coronavirus vaccine, Hassan pointed out that all countries are still in the third phase of clinical studies on the vaccine, and we have made the necessary contacts and correspondence to ensure the vaccine either through the World Organization of Health when a vaccine is approved, whether from China, Russia, France or Great Britain. We provide all the correspondence that would allow Lebanon to ensure coverage of twenty percent of its citizens through the grouping called Kovacs. We also paved the way for private companies to communicate with foreign companies to invest in this field, especially in these circumstances, to ensure this vaccine.

For his part, Dr. Riad Sarkis indicated, “The effectiveness of this very precise technique will be of great help in addition to the PCR tests, all of them medical techniques to alleviate the epidemic and the major infection catastrophe in order to continue giving treatment to the wounded. “
