A leading source in the Movement of the Future said it is too early to address the announcement of its prime minister, former prime minister Saad Hariri, as a candidate to assume the presidency of the next government.
On Sunday, the London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat quoted the source as saying that Hariri’s final decision to run depends on the will of the parliamentary blocs with whom he will consult before the start of consultations to provide political and economic guarantees. without which the French initiative to save Lebanon cannot be trusted.

The newspaper reported that Hariri will begin his consultations with former prime ministers Najib Mikati, Fouad Siniora and Tammam Salam to consult them in the post-candidacy stage.

Hariri will also consult with representatives of the “Future” bloc, after which he will start consultations with the parliamentary blocs later.

President Michel Aoun had set next Thursday as the date for holding parliamentary consultations to designate a person to form the new government.

Hariri announced last Thursday that he was a possible candidate to head a new government to stop the economic collapse in Lebanon.

He told the local channel “MTV”: “Certainly, I am a candidate … Hariri will not close the door to the only hope against Lebanon.”

He added: “I am ready to hold a round of political contacts this week if all political parties still agree to the program,” which was discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron.
