The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his concern about the division of the world into two parts, each with its own economic capacity, commercial bases and currency.

Guterres said: “I still fear the possibility of a large gap that will divide the world in two, with the emergence of two large economies that prevail in two regions, each with its own dominant currency and its own commercial and financial bases, as each one has its own internet network, as well as special geopolitical and military strategies that have no future ”.

The Secretary General of the international organization also noted the “fragility of cyberspace” due to divergent views on the possibility of safely benefiting from the digital world. He said: “We are still far from establishing multilateral mechanisms to guarantee the safe and fair management of the cyber field.”

He continued: “We are also witnessing the fragility of the disarmament regime and the growing risks related to the proliferation of nuclear and chemical weapons.”

Guterres called on the countries of the world to work to eliminate these weaknesses and take the “stable path”, expressing his hope that humanity can seize the opportunity to overcome the “Covid-19” pandemic to move “from confusion to stability. “
