British police said in the early hours of Sunday that several people were stabbed in the English city of Birmingham.

He added that there is an alert for all emergency teams at the scene of the accident to ensure that the injured receive the necessary care.
The police referred to a “major accident” without being able to determine to date the number of injured or the severity of their condition.
In a statement, police said they received a report at 00:30 local time (23:30 GMT) about a person being stabbed in the city center, before being informed of other similar incidents shortly thereafter.
He added: “We are aware of several injuries, but at this time we are not in a position to determine the number of injuries or their severity.”
Video recordings broadcast by British television channels showed that large areas of the city center were closed, while police officers wearing uniforms were deployed for forensic analysis.
West Midlands Police said: “Work is still going on to determine what happened, and it may take some time to be in a position to confirm something. It would not be appropriate to speculate on the cause of the accident at this early stage.”
