German soccer club Hertha Berlin announced on Monday that it arrested striker Salomon Kalou after posting a video on “Facebook” in which he shook hands with his teammates without observing anti-virus measures.
Herta said the video was filmed after checks for the entire assortment were negative (i.e. not infected) for the Coronavirus.
Callow appeared in the video, shaking hands with the players, when he entered a room for a colleague who was undergoing medical examinations.
“The video of Salomon Kalou from the dressing room violated team rules and showed behavior that is not appropriate for the situation or with the club’s regulations,” the club said in a statement.
He continued: “Therefore, the Hertha Berlin Board of Directors decided to stop him from training and playing with immediate effect.”
Kalou, the former Chelsea, Lille and Feyenoord player, who has played around 90 games for the Ivory Coast national team, apologized for the incident, justifying that he had not considered the matter after the players’ negative tests.
The German Bundesliga has been suspended since mid-March due to the epidemic, and the government is expected to issue a decision on Wednesday for a possible resumption of activity.
