On Friday, the French Foreign Ministry called on Lebanese political forces to adhere to their responsibilities and form an immediate government under the supervision of Prime Minister Mostafa Adib.

This was expressed by the ministry spokesperson, Agnes von der Molle, in a press interview in which she said: “At a time when Lebanon faces an unprecedented crisis, France regrets that Lebanese politicians have not kept their promises. which they did on September 1 according to the announced deadline. “

He also added: “We urge all Lebanese forces to fulfill their responsibilities and agree without delay to the formation nominated by Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Adeeb for a task-oriented government capable of implementing the reforms necessary to fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people.”

The deadline set by French President Emmanuel Macron for Lebanese politicians to form the government has already expired, while Lebanese media reports indicate that Adeeb may resign from the mission.

It should be noted that the government formation process stalled in light of the Shiite duo’s insistence on obtaining the Ministry of Finance, while Hezbollah continues its intransigence and adherence to its allies, the Speaker of Parliament and the Amal Movement, Nabih Berri. , at the Finance Ministry, prompting Lebanon’s designated prime minister, Mustafa Adeeb, on Thursday night, to expand consultations on the cabinet reshuffle.

France is pressuring Lebanese politicians to quickly form a government and initiate reforms to lift the country out of the worst economic crisis since the civil war, exacerbated by the bombing of the port of Beirut on August 4.
