The area of burning land in Homs reached 2,500 dunums, between wooded and agricultural land.
In Tartous, cooling operations continue, after 59 fires were recorded in the governorate field in recent days.
In Lattakia, all fire points were extinguished, and areas were secured and monitored to prevent new fires. Qardaha Hospital also returned to work after evacuating its inmates due to fires approaching from its walls. In the same area, Regie’s tobacco warehouses, some of whose buildings had collapsed due to fires, had been burned.
Fires broke out in more than 100 locations, displacing people from some villages, including the village of Bisot in the Latakia countryside.
Although the Director of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture warned about the possibility of new fires due to weather conditions and winds, he emphasized the continuation of monitoring of some hot spots prepared to reignite.
Syrian universities had postponed all exams to Sunday and Monday, while the Minister of Education left the decision to the heads of schools in the affected areas to estimate the possibility of returning to these schools.
