More than a thousand arrivals arrived yesterday at Rafic Hariri International Airport as part of the first batch of the third phase of the evacuation of expatriates. These, in accordance with the guarantees of the Ministry of Public Health, underwent PCR tests aimed at detecting the coronavirus and had negative results before boarding the plane. Consequently, they went to their homes with a promise to comply with domestic quarantine.
In a clearer sense, yesterday’s expatriates left themselves to their “conscience” in light of the “loss” of the relevant authorities thus far and their inability to announce a clear and specific mechanism to tighten the application of the procedures of quarantine. Sources from the Ministry of Health indicated that “the next few days will determine the mechanism by which the stone process will be administered,” while the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Assem Araji, denied that the image associated with the isolation centers in the regions is still unclear, knowing that a discussion presented by the Ministry of Health is linked to the feasibility of adopting Collective Quarantine Centers, “since many experiments have shown the transformation of collective calculation centers into infection transfer centers and, for therefore, we must exercise caution before making any decision in this regard. ”
Until the picture clears up, Lebanon will receive thousands of arrivals in the coming days, including those from countries where PCR controls are not available. And these, according to “health” sources, will be subject to the scenarios of the previous stages, in terms of keeping them in hotels and carrying out controls for them at the airport point and then “demobilizing” them to their homes with a promise of isolation from the home. In practice, this means maintaining the above “mechanism” and therefore not trying to avoid the “rebellion” scenario of some expatriates and causing them to transmit a social infection.
The danger of maintaining this reality lies in the fact that it comes in light of the information indicating the increase in the number of expatriates from 11,000 to 300 expatriates (as recently stated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Middle East Airlines Mohamed Al-Hout) to 19 thousand. Similarly, in light of the real fear of increasing cases in the coming days.
The Ministry of Health announced yesterday afternoon that out of 1,691 examinations, 8 injuries were registered, six of which belonged to residents who mixed with some immigrants who did not adhere to quarantine and two injuries to newcomers who were diagnosed days after his arrival in Lebanon. And at night, the Rafic Hariri Government Hospital announced that among 408 examinations, two new cases were registered. Therefore, the death toll of the meter yesterday was ten wounded, to close at night in 888 cases.
