The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, called for a strict response to the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, while an Israeli newspaper reported that the operation was carried out with the blessing of US President Donald Trump.

Qalibaf stressed that the incident should lead to strengthening Iran’s nuclear power and security, he said.
In the same context, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran confirmed that scientists from the country’s nuclear industry will continue “the path of the country’s power with double force.”

The committee said security authorities had obtained important evidence and information about the killing and revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that Israel was behind Fakhrizadeh’s murder.

The Quds Force commander in the Revolutionary Guard, Major General Ismail Qaani, said his country would respond to the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

The Israeli daily Haaretz believed that US President Donald Trump, whose presidency will end soon, apparently gave his blessing for the assassination of the notorious father of the Iranian nuclear project.
The newspaper added in its editorial today under the title “a dangerous provocation” that this process carries the potential for a dangerous regional escalation aimed at exploiting the remaining moments of the outgoing US president, in order to restrain the next president, Joe Biden, and thwart an American return to the nuclear deal between Iran and the superpowers.
The newspaper noted that Iran directly accused Israel of being responsible for the assassination of its top nuclear scientist, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boasted of excluding foreign and security ministers from what he was doing in the political and security fields, putting Israel in front of the growing possibilities of a direct confrontation with Iran.
The newspaper said Netanyahu’s actions would trigger a dangerous military confrontation with Iran and a first political crisis with the Biden administration.
The newspaper concluded in its editorial that a balance of terror governs the relationship between Israel and Iran, as both are armed to deter the other with no solution on the horizon, which calls for political solutions and not just military ones.
