A Lebanese court has sentenced the artist, Fadel Shaker, to 22 years in prison with forced labor.

The Permanent Military Tribunal, chaired by Brigadier General Munir Shehadeh, decided to issue two judgments in absentia against Shaker, whose name was associated with the Ahmad al-Assir group for a time.

The first conviction was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with forced labor, and deprived of his civil rights after being convicted of “interfering in criminal acts of terrorism committed by terrorists, with knowledge of the matter by providing them with logistical services.”

The second sentence also sentenced Shaker to seven years in prison, with forced labor, with deprivation of his civil rights and a fine of five million Lebanese pounds, on charges of financing the armed “group of prisoners”, spending on its members. and ensure the price of weapons and ammunition of war.

It is noteworthy that the Military Court had previously issued two other judgments in absentia against Shakir, the first in February 2016, which sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of £ 500,000 for attacking a sister country during an interview he conducted. from the Ain al-Hilweh camp in 2014.

The court said that Shakir’s remarks during the interview led to “disrupting Lebanon’s ties with an Arab country, causing conflict and damaging the reputation of the military establishment.”

The second ruling was issued against Shaker in September 2017, in the “Abra Events” case, where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison plus forced labor.
