“The employees are not satisfied with the late payment of wages and we have launched an investigation,” Kolar district police officials said.

A person present during the incident told the Indianexpress agency: “The employees demanded to pay their outstanding salaries for a few months and met with officials from the Human Resources Department on Saturday.”

He added: “After that, a small number of employees attacked the office and damaged the office buildings and furniture.”

According to police sources, “the employees destroyed furniture, computers and equipment from the factory. They tried to set two company cars on fire and damage four others.”

The sources stated: “However, most of the damage occurred in the main office areas and the factory floors were not damaged.”
