“What we want is to present a level of objectivity and make that decision really in the interest of the company as a whole and its shareholders,” said the group’s CEO, Bob Chapick, in an interview with CNBC. At the same time, he pointed out that the global health crisis accelerated the movement, after it caused the closure of cinemas and caused a significant increase in subscriptions to the Disney + service and other “streaming” services. The measure aims to better meet consumer requirements.
It should be noted that the newborn platform had attracted 60.5 million subscribers at the end of June 2020, which made up for the decline in other areas in which the group operates.
