Dismantling a car theft and smuggling ring to Syria … and the arrest of its members

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces, Public Relations Division, issued the following communication:

Recently, there have been several “Hyundai and Kia” car theft incidents in different areas of Beirut and the south.

As a result of vigorous follow-up and monitoring and tracking operations, the Office for the Fight against International Theft Crimes of the Judicial Police Unit was able to learn the identity of the members of this gang and determine their place of residence in the city of Sidón. .

Consequently, and on 12/18 and 12/19/2020, a force from this office carried out rapid and simultaneous operations in that city, which resulted in the arrest of:

Through their interrogations, they confessed to having formed a gang to steal cars and to have stolen -along with other- cars / 15 / “Hyundai and Kia” from the governorates of Beirut and the South and to have smuggled them into Syrian territory in exchange for money.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary and work continues to arrest the rest of those involved.
