Detection of a new “Corona” symptom

The nightmare of corona infection does not seem to end after recovery, as recently doctors have noticed the presence of symptoms that persist long after the symptoms of the virus infection have ended.

Although statistics indicate that most people with the disease are cured, there are no precise figures on the proportion of people who experience long-term symptoms after recovery.

Recent reports indicate that some patients suffer from the phenomenon of “brain fog” after Corona recovery, a phenomenon that can be dangerous for some.

According to statements made by neurologist Shruti Agnihotri to the American network ABC, this phenomenon is characterized by a severe headache after Corona and possibly a temporary loss of memory.

The doctor adds that these symptoms are similar to the symptoms of a concussion.

Agnihotri believes that reduced oxygen supply to the brain may be behind this phenomenon, but says that doctors should study it in depth.

Doctors have warned that the emerging corona virus can cause hearing loss in some patients, attributing the reason mainly to its effect on the blood vessels in the ear.

Viruses that cause some diseases like measles and meningitis are known to sometimes cause sudden hearing loss, and there is growing evidence that the emerging corona virus should be added to the list.

Dr. Matthew Stewart, assistant professor of otorhinolaryngology at Johns Hopkins University, told CNN: “We hear more and more about people suffering from hearing loss as part of a Covid infection,” although the virus’s main exit route for reaching the lungs is the nose. It is also possible orally and ocularly, according to some studies.

There are no statistics on how common it is for people who have contracted COVID-19 to develop hearing loss, but some small studies suggest a possible link.

For example, a British study published in the International Journal of Audiology and included 138 Covid-19 patients, 13 percent of whom experienced ringing in their ears two months after they were discharged from the hospital.

Doctors cannot say with certainty that the virus is attacking the inner ear, due to the risk of such an examination.
