The United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, “Jan Kubi”, leveled harsh criticism of Lebanese politicians and officials, indicating that foreign officials are more interested in Lebanon and its fate than in its politicians.
Kubi pointed out the general dissatisfaction with the formation of the government and the lack of progress in that file, despite the passage of months since the resignation of the previous government, led by Hassan Diab, indicating that he discussed with the International Support Group with great concern the crisis going through. He described it as “forked” in Lebanon.
It is noteworthy that efforts to form the government, headed by “Saad Hariri”, have returned to zero after disagreements between the latter on the one hand and the Lebanese president “Michel Aoun” on the other, on the two points of the number of ministers in the government and the participation of the president in ministerial portfolios.
Kubis also highlighted the international community’s condemnation of the lack of seriousness of Lebanese political parties and institutions to end the crisis, amid a state of concern about the fate that awaits the country.
It is noteworthy that United Nations organizations announced a few weeks ago that poverty rates in Lebanon had risen to 55 percent, noting that the last three months witnessed an escalation in the poverty rate, which reached 5 percent, compared to the beginning of the year.
