The Lebanese Finance Minister in the interim government, Ghazi Wazni, said that “the slow economic reforms are caused by the political class, and this slowdown means death for the citizens.” Noting that “the only way out of the crisis is the implementation of the roadmap established by Macron.”
The Lebanese minister said: “The financial audit process at the Banque du Liban started about a month ago, and the auditing firm Álvarez and Marsal sent a list of about 100 questions, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, confirmed who had already submitted 42 percent of the responses.
French government sources have confirmed that French President “Emmanuel Macron” will hold a meeting later to discuss the latest developments in the Lebanese record and obstruct the formation of the Lebanese government and the post-French initiative.
In addition, the minister in the interim government explained, “Other information is protected by the Banking Secrecy Law, and a week ago, Álvarez was here to explain that it is difficult to start working and we agreed to a three-month delay from the beginning of the process. financial audit ”. .
“Wazni” stressed that Álvarez and Marsal have the right to direct access to all public funds at the level of ministries and public organizations.
It is noteworthy that Paris has made some modifications to its initiative in Lebanon, noting the possibility for parties to take responsibility for appointing ministers who are specialists and people with competence, provided they are not affiliated with it or its supporters.
Saad Hariri, who was assigned to form the government, adheres to his position and to the provisions of the French initiative to form a mini-government composed of non-party specialists to elect their ministers in coordination with the President of the Republic, while sources say that Lebanese President “Michel Aoun” and “Hezbollah” insist on an expanded government of 24 ministers and possibly more, rather than the 18-minister formula that Hariri clings to.
