A leading medical figure in France has warned that the country will face an outbreak of the Corona virus that will last for months and will drain its healthcare system if nothing changes.

“The second wave is coming faster than we think,” Patrick Puet, head of the National Committee of the Doctors’ Union, told Le Journal du Dimanche newspaper.

France registered more than 14,000 new infections with the new Corona virus in 24 hours, a slight decrease from the result of the last 48 hours, but the rate of positive tests continues to increase, according to data published by the Public Health Corporation on Saturday .

The number of new infections reached 14,412 over the past 24 hours, compared to about 16,000 cases on Friday and Thursday.

Since the virus outbreak, at least 31,700 people have died in France as a result of the Corona pandemic.
