Official data released Monday showed 17 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in China on May 10, the largest daily increase since April 28.
The data indicated that among the new cases, seven were cases of travelers from abroad, compared to two cases received from abroad, which were recorded on May 9.
Five of the new cases were reported in Wuhan, central China, where the Coruña virus outbreak first started in late 2019, marking the highest number of cases since March 11.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in China now stands at 82,918, while the number of deaths remains unchanged at 4,633 cases.
The number of undiagnosed patients decreased to 12 on May 10, from 20 the previous day.
China faces a second possible wave of the outbreak of the new Corona virus, after announcing 11 cases on Sunday in the city of Shulan, which classified a high-risk area with the return of the epidemic.
Jilin province authorities raised the alert level in Shulan city from low to medium after a woman was confirmed injured on May 7.
Local officials raised Shulan’s rating from medium to high risk, after confirming 11 new cases on May 9, all of which were family members and contacts of the injured woman.
“In line with state standards for classifying epidemiological conditions, Jilin province raises the level of epidemiological risk in Shulan city from medium to high,” National Health Commission spokeswoman Mai Fein said on Sunday.
The Jilin government stated that Shulan has strengthened anti-virus measures, including closing residential complexes, prohibiting unnecessary movement, and closing schools.
