The head of the Finance Committee, Congressman Ibrahim Kanaan, indicated, during a statement from the House of Representatives after the committee meeting, that “we did not discuss in this session or in the previous session the government’s recovery plan that we finished discuss months ago, and the Money Committee is working to confront the ‘Road to Hell’ with its parliamentary control.

He added: “When we read about the work of the money committee in some newspapers, we think that we are reading about another committee because nothing that is written is correct.”

Kanaan pointed out that “the law most required by the IMF, the government and the Lebanese to know what they have and what they have is Capital Control, which we discuss in general without going into details today.”

He stressed that, “Capital Control is required since October 2019 to end” the hand and wages “when dealing with depositors, considering that” Lebanon’s interest in the survival of the depositary and the economy and sacrifice is a requirement of all, and we are awaiting full clarification so that the implementation mechanism is subject to legislation, not discretion. “

He added: “The IMF says there is no financing without Capital Control, and we discuss their observations on what is presented, which is 8 pages long, and what we do is get out of the crisis. We have asked the Bank of Lebanon and the banks to put an end to the chaos and ease the affairs of people and students abroad. “

He explained that “we decided to establish a subcommittee that would meet with all the parties to reach a solution that satisfies the people and the State, so as to ensure the opportunity for people to breathe and the liquidity required for the banks.”

Kanaan decided: “We cannot afford to waste time, so we do our legislative work in the absence of the government.”

The head of the Finance and Budget Committee concluded by saying, “Lying is what gets us to hell!”
