A member of the Beirut Medical Union, Dr. Bernard Jarbaka, emphasized that it is necessary to return to coeducation while following a series of basic steps to enable poor children to learn, as it is impossible for them to learn at a distance.

A member of the Beirut Medical Council, Dr. Bernard Jarbaka, drew attention to the initiative on the issue of returning to schools safely, because the health of children is a priority, and I have a number of observations and we are continuing our meetings between the Medical Union and the Ministry of Education to promote the return of integrated education to the impossibility of distance education.

In an interview with colleague Nawal Leisha Abboud on Voice of Lebanon Radio 100.5’s “Point A Line” program, she said: “We call for the immunization of the education sector, because it is a vital and very important sector in the country.”

He continued: “It is necessary to go back to school with a compact system, and we have studied a list of children and parents who have chronic diseases, and who are the teachers who should be distance taught because of diseases or their inability to tolerate infection. “.

Jarbaka added: “Before the holidays, we opened kindergartens for 4 months and schools for two months, and there was only one case of an outbreak of the epidemic due to non-compliance with health measures, and we refused to open the casino and entertainment. nearby places and schools. “

In a related context, he said: “If there is a 5% in Lebanon who can pay the price of the vaccine to receive it,” it will be “, but 95% of the citizens who cannot afford it have the right to receive the vaccine in a way. free “.

Regarding the effectiveness of the vaccine against the mutated virus, he replied: “It is clear that vaccines can cover the British variant of the Corona virus, and receive the vaccine as soon as possible to protect against larger mutations, and these mutants with their change it did not change the nature of the treatment of the epidemic according to science. “Due to the speed of spread and not the severity of the disease, it is not necessary to continue with distance education only, and it is scientifically possible to return to blended education.

Jarbaka said: “It is practically necessary to be in school because the poor child cannot learn at a distance, and foreign countries want certificates for the students who will go to it, and it is strange to close schools and open the rest of the sectors.” and it was clear before the holidays that children were not transmitting the virus, but to the community at large, and the download is faulty. Children are parents’ mistakes. “
