A US court has subpoenaed the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Muhammad bin Salman and 9 other people, in the case of former adviser Saad Al-Jabri, who accused them of trying to assassinate him, through WhatsApp and Signal.
CNN said the Washington court sent subpoenas from Mohammed bin Salman and 9 other Saudis, in addition to the Misk Charitable Foundation, in the lawsuit filed by former Saudi security adviser Saad Al-Jabri against them, via WhatsApp and Signal .
A Washington court document dated October 29, of which CNN obtained a copy, showed that he had sent a subpoena to Mohammed bin Salman via WhatsApp in Arabic and English on September 22. The court documents also included an image of the messages sent via “WhatsApp” showing their arrival and access to them by the recipient.
The court also sent subpoenas to the Misk Charitable Foundation and to nine Saudi defendants, including Badr Al-Asaker, Saud Al-Qahtani and Ahmed Asiri.
In early August 2020, al-Jabri filed a lawsuit against bin Salman in a US court, accusing him of sending a team to kill him in Canada, similar to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Al-Jabri was the right hand of the former Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad bin Nayef, and today he is considered Muhammad bin Salman’s most wanted man.
Al-Jabri, who is now in Canada after moving there from the United States in anticipation of his extradition to Saudi Arabia, has held numerous positions for decades. In addition to being a former Minister of State and a member of the Council of Ministers, he was the first official in charge of the Saudi intelligence service during bin Nayef’s tenure in the Interior Ministry years ago, in addition to his work as a security adviser and link between bin Nayef and the Western intelligence services.
