The speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berri, warned that Lebanon “is threatened with collapse if the situation remains as it is without a government”, since “it is not possible to reach the edge of security without an executive authority that assumes its responsibilities. to prevent the fall of Lebanon. ”
In a statement after his meeting with an Iraqi delegation headed by the Iraqi Minister of Health and Environment, Hassan Al-Tamimi, he considered that what is required today is “to strengthen the integration between Lebanon and Iraq in various fields, especially the economic , health, tourism and politics, because this integration and in light of the dangers that threaten Lebanon, can contribute to ensuring 50 percent of Lebanon’s escape from its crises, ”noting that Parliament is fully prepared to implement all the necessary legislation to strengthen the ties of cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq.
Berri believed that what affects and threatens Lebanon “is the same thing that afflicts and threatens Iraq, especially the dangers arising from corruption and terrorism that point to national unity in the two countries.”
An Iraqi delegation led by Minister Tamimi visits Lebanon to sign health agreements. The delegation began its meetings with the visit of President Michel Aoun and discussed with him bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq, in addition to preparing an agreement to supply Lebanon with crude in exchange for medical and health services. the presence of the Minister of Health in the interim government, Hamad Hassan.
Aoun hoped that the delegation’s visit would be the beginning of a long-term cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq that will be activated in the near future, and affirmed his full willingness to facilitate the implementation of the agreements between the two countries, expressing his hope. to achieve a common market among the Mashreq countries, with the certainty that it would study the possibility of launching this initiative again.
And I hope there will be cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq in the Arab League and international forums to encourage the safe return of displaced Syrians to their lands.
For his part, Al-Tamimi indicated that there is an Iraqi government tendency to support Lebanon at all levels, the first of which is the field of health, and that his visit and the delegation aim to support the Lebanese people to face the Corona pandemic and the efforts of the Ministry of Health, in addition to discussing the files that support the efforts of the ministries of health to advance the health situation in the two countries and the Judiciary. About this pandemic, and some of the agreements signed by the two ministries. and ways to activate them.
Al-Tamimi explained that during the next few days joint expert-level teams will be formed between the two countries and the Lebanese Minister of Health will visit Baghdad to complete the agreements and implement them on the ground, stressing that the Iraqi government is serious about supporting the Lebanese people in all fields.
Al-Tamimi hoped that the bilateral agreements would reflect further progress in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples and reduces the economic crisis in Lebanon.
