Beirut explosion “ignites” the ashes of social programs

A whole year, which is roughly the length of a hiatus that social programs took from Lebanese channels. At a time when local stations were gearing up to host a variety of social shows, including recent and special episodes, the protests that began last October brought that programming to a halt almost entirely. The mtv channel was preparing to renew its contract with Joe Maalouf, who left Lbci and joined to present the “proxy” program and signed the contract with him, but the work did not see the light. As for Lbci, he followed in the footsteps of his colleague and did not show any episode of the program “Ahmar Khat Al Arid”, directed by Malek Maktabi. For its part, the “Al Jadid” channel continued to broadcast the two social programs “Tony Khalifa”, which is directed by Tony Khalifa and “I am the devil” by Nishan. The screens were content to present mixes in their programs that mixed politics and meeting to keep up with the demonstrations. It appears that the stagnation that affected social programs last fall due to political events will be accompanied by a wave of social programs next fall. In this context, canal corridors are witnessing an avalanche of activities to prepare for a handful of social projects focusing on the explosion in the port of Beirut. That explosion brought these shows back to life and preparations began for a series of episodes revolving around themes and stories of those affected, wounded and martyrs. Although Tony Khalifa’s program has not stopped, he is preparing to return with a fall season whose broad title will be the port disaster. Preparations are also being made for Nishan’s return with a new season of his television show, but the format of the episodes has not yet been decided, to avoid a clash of ideas between him and Khalifa. The same applies to my office, who is expected to return to the camera despite his contract with “witness” to offer multimedia content that is compatible with the application that falls under the mbc logo. As for the mtv channel, it seeks to present a social program focused on the stories of those affected by the explosion, and will be released soon. In addition to these shows, the channels attend special episodes of their regular shows to shed light on the cases of some of those affected by the blast. Ultimately, the Beirut explosion stirred the ashes in social programs that were suspended for a whole year, but their time has come and they are expected to begin in about a month.
