The Syrian ambassador to Russia, Riad Haddad, denied what was reported by the media about the transfer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Moscow to receive treatment after his infection with the Coronavirus.
Haddad said in a statement to the “Novosti” agency on Friday, “These rumors are completely false. The president is in Syria, and the news to the contrary is unfounded,” referring to accusations by some Arab and Turkish media that that Assad was flown to Moscow for treatment while in good condition.
On Monday, the Syrian presidency announced that Bashar al-Assad and his wife Asma had contracted the coronavirus, and that they were in good health and in stable condition.
