The Presidency of the Republic affirmed, in a statement published on its official Facebook page, that Bashar al-Assad and his wife had been infected with the Coronavirus, adding that “they are in good health and in stable condition.”

The statement said that “tests confirmed that President Bashar al-Assad and his wife Asmaa were infected with the Corona virus, after exhibiting mild symptoms.”

He noted that “they will continue their work during the home quarantine period, which will last two or three weeks.”

He added: “President al-Assad and Ms Asma, wishing safety and well-being for all Syrians and all peoples of the world because of this virus, call on all Syrians to continue to take precautions and preventive measures as much as possible. President al-Assad and Ms Asma salute all medical personnel working on the front lines to deal with the virus and mitigate its effects on the virus.

And the Ministry of Health of the government of the regime had announced, last night, Sunday, that 56 new cases of coronavirus had been registered in the areas of the regime, raising the total number of infections to 15,981, of which 10,374 were recovered, while 1063 died.

The first contagion with the Coronavirus was registered in Syria on March 22 of last year, and it was for a girl who came from outside the country, and was in the areas of the Syrian regime, while the first death was registered on the 29th of the month. same month.
