On March 23, the deputy for the Popular Democratic Party (HDP), who opposes President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and supports the Kurds, announced that he had filed an appeal with the Supreme Constitutional Court, against the decision to withdraw his membership. taken about a week. earlier.

But after the constitutional decision, and in light of this, he expressed his intention to submit the case to the European Court of Human Rights, based in Strasbourg, France, he wrote on Twitter.

The decision to leave his membership came after the deputy, considered one of the most staunch defenders of human rights, was convicted of spreading “terrorist propaganda” and confirmed a sentence of two and a half years in prison, after his publication in Social media in 2016 before his election, an article in which the Kurds called on the Turkish government to take a step towards peace to end the long dispute between the two sides.
