The Federation of Lebanese Bakeries Unions held a general assembly at Kirouz Jisr Al-Basha bakeries led by Federation Vice President Ali Ibrahim and attended by captains Tony Saif, Riad Al-Sayed, Tariq Al-Meer and a group of bakery owners from all Lebanese regions.

Ibrahim presented the results of the contacts maintained by the union with all interested officials of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, especially the meetings that he had held in this regard with the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun and the President of Parliament Nabih Berri, “who promised to meet the demands of the union.”

Ibrahim confirmed: “The searches that were organized against the bakeries were maliciously executed to force the bakeries to bear the losses.” He said: “After the contacts that were made, it was agreed to reduce the weight of the package to 900 grams, noting that the records of infractions were organized in a weight of 900 grams, which was later legislated by the current minister, in ten grams less of a thousand grams “.

He announced that, as a result of the discussions, the General Assembly decided the following:

First: The Federation of Bakery Unions affirms its enthusiasm to continue providing bread to citizens despite the huge economic losses suffered by bakery owners.

Second: The Federation asks all interested officials to resolve the issue of the seizure records, especially since it occurred due to a malicious act to subjugate bakeries.

Third: The Union calls on the three presidents to intervene and solve this issue due to its negative repercussions on the continuation of bakeries in their work, especially since there are more than 50 records of seizures in a bakery, noting that the smallest bakery has organized two or three minutes against.

Fourth: The Union addresses the Judicial Power that is investigating this file to take into account the malice that occurred at the time, and to act with the wisdom and knowledge that we entrust to it in this Judicial Power that we honor and appreciate.

Fifth: The General Assembly of the Federation of Bakeries Unions in Lebanon calls on bakeries to be alert and prepared to stop working next Wednesday, November 4 if this dangerous issue is not addressed at the bakery level, noting that this measure does not target the judiciary in any way because the issue began politically and should end politically. “

The Union announced that its meetings are open to monitor developments and what will lead to efforts to resolve this matter.
