Bahrain requests to open an embassy in Israel

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Al-Zayani announced on Wednesday that he had submitted a formal request to the Israeli government to open an embassy in Israel.

On the other hand, he pointed out, during a press conference with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in West Jerusalem, that the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain agreed to the Israeli request to open an embassy in Manama. .

Bahrain’s foreign minister also announced that he had invited his Israeli counterpart to visit Manama next month to participate in a conference to be held there.

The Bahraini Foreign Minister stated that his Israeli counterpart agreed to accept the invitation.

For his part, Israel’s foreign minister said at the joint press conference that he hoped to visit Bahrain soon.

Ashkenazi added: “We agreed in our talks to open an Israeli embassy in Manama and a Bahraini embassy in Israel as soon as possible, and I hope we can celebrate their opening before the end of the year.”

“We will soon begin direct flights between our two countries, allowing our citizens to visit and learn more about our wonderful country,” he added.

“I promise you that you will come to Manama in the near future, and we will continue our constructive discussions that we started today, and we will continue to strengthen relations between our countries and our peoples,” added the Israeli minister.

He said that as of December 1, Bahraini citizens will be able to apply for visas for Israel on a special website.

Ashkenazi addressed his Bahraini counterpart saying: “We are more than friends, we are also partners who share a vision, a purpose and a commitment.”

Al-Zayani arrived in Israel on Wednesday for his first visit since the signing of the declaration of normalization of relations between the two countries last month.

The Bahraini minister was accompanied by a US delegation led by Washington’s envoy for Middle East peace negotiations, Avi Berkowitz.
