Each of the four seasons of the year is characterized by a specific form of disease, and the spring and fall seasons are among the seasons when some diseases are most common due to sudden changes in the weather.
A recent American medical study revealed that babies born in the fall season are more likely to develop asthma, hay fever and food allergies, according to the Daily Mail.
“We look at all the children treated at our clinic, and those born in the fall are likely to have all the conditions associated with (allergies),” said Dr. Jessica Howe, a researcher at the National Center for Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado, USA
“Now we are learning more about why this is so. We strongly believe that it is due to bacteria in the skin.”
Scientists believe that most allergies begin during childhood when allergens break through dry or cracked skin, causing a chain reaction known as ‘atopic march or eczema’ that affects one in five children in the UK .
This condition causes the skin to become dry and sometimes itchy, red and cracked, and children with it have high levels of harmful bacteria known as Staphylococcus aureus on their skin, reducing their ability to prevent allergens or pathogens.
“When food particles can penetrate the skin instead of digesting it, the body sees it as foreign and creates antibodies against it, which causes the child to develop an allergy,” Hui continued.
