Baabda’s Equation: A Gibran Fix … Or No Government!

Thus, tomorrow the parliamentary consultations convened by President Michel Aoun in the Baabda Palace are postponed.

The powers of the President of the Republic were used in line with the leadership of the “strong block of Lebanon”, or rather the head of the “Free Patriotic Movement” Gebran Bassil, not to name Saad Hariri tomorrow.

Powers are used in the wrong place and time, bypassing the rubble the Lebanese people are plagued with, and the collapse that is ravaging all Lebanese houses is no longer concerned with political and factional fanaticism and a controversial concept of the letter, but only disturbs him for a living and stops entering the abyss.

The Baabda Palace equation is clear and confronted in the face of the Lebanese people, according to which: “There is no government without an agreement with Gebran Bassil, and without a prior agreement on participation.”

An equation that does not allow the discussion of quotas to be left to the post-commissioning stage, in line with what happened with other parties that are said to have taken ministerial guarantees.

An equation that enshrines the scales of government formation in its old, guided by a prior agreement and refuted in actions and parts, while forgetting all the evils that the country is going through. It is a condescension that was not expected to be practiced by those in charge of the system, the people and the public interest. Why postpone consultations? What luxury of time do people still have? Which corridor does the country enter with an inconclusive delay? And what is left of the letter when people go hungry, their dreams perish and their children abandoned? And why was Hassan Diab’s appointment charitable and the name Saad Hariri considered the opposite?

After a long day of announced and unannounced consultations, the picture had begun to clear up on what the atmosphere would be like tomorrow, before the palace surprise emerged.

It seems that the contact that Prime Minister Saad Hariri made with the president of the Progressive Socialist Party, former MP Walid Jumblatt, and who led a frank discussion on all the issues, has resolved the situation between the two bitter allies after it has soured. long after Jumblatt’s recent appearance, by which he revealed that his bloc will not participate in parliamentary consultations and will not appoint anyone to preside. The new government and tomorrow the “Democratic Rally” bloc will nominate Hariri to head the next government.

At the level of the Shiite duo, the two parties did not publicly announce their voting point, and the “Liberation and Development” bloc announced its participation in binding parliamentary consultations, provided that it announced the name of its candidate for prime minister, as was the custom afterwards. of the end of the meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic, highlighting the need to accelerate the formation of a government Rescue as soon as possible, taking into account balance, competence and competence in its formation, and rebuilding the trust of the Lebanese in the state and its institutions and the trust of the Arab and international community, as well as the trust of expatriates in Lebanon and their role, and which is within the components of the French initiative in all its reform provisions and rescue. And the atmosphere of Ain al-Tineh indicated that the bloc tends to name Hariri in the consultations tomorrow.

As for the “loyalty of the resistance” bloc, which the delegation of the “Future” bloc visited today, after the meeting, Deputy Bahía Hariri sent an important message in which she emphasized that no component in the country was excluded. He did not announce any charges so far, and his handling of the matter came off very cautiously.

Regarding the most prominent development of the Christian side, the head of the “Lebanese Forces” party, Samir Geagea, stated that “we will accept only an effective rescue government, noting that” despite our friendship with Hariri, we will not appoint him to head the government and we will not appoint anyone because no one has the required specifications. “

Regarding the “Strong Lebanon” bloc, whose president, Gebran Bassil, was absent from the meeting of the “Future Bloc” as a delegate in his place, the parliamentarian Ibrahim Kanaan, restoring Basil’s theory in exchange for Saad, which President Aoun had previously released. His sources told An-Nahar that he is heading towards anonymity. The name remains in the custody of the President of the Republic.

Furthermore, regardless of the bloc’s position, it seems that it will not go to the unified consultations, as the vice president of Parliament, Elie Ferzli, revealed to Al-Nahar that he will appoint Hariri to head the next government, indicating that the atmosphere is positive and “the road is easy for the Hariri nomination.”

Al-Ferzli believes that the Christian atmosphere is not as complicated as it is claimed, and Hariri has the votes of 22 Christian representatives, “and this is sufficient and ensures the letter.”

Al-Nahar learned in this context that Ferzli refers to the Christian representatives of the Tashnak Party, which expresses a differentiated position and tended to name Hariri, in addition to the representatives of “Marada” and members of the Christian blocks of Future, Development and Liberation, in addition to the independent representatives who so far have not resigned.

Before the postponement of the consultations, Prime Minister Hariri had obtained the majority for the assignment, especially since the members of the House of Representatives became 120 deputies after the resignation of 8 deputies, and until the issuance of the postponement statement , Hariri had included the designation of the “Future” bloc (17 deputies), “Development and Liberation” (17 deputies) President Mikati’s bloc (4 deputies), the “Democratic Rally” block (6 deputies), the “Marada bloc “(5 representatives), the block of deputies Tashnak (3 representatives), in addition to several independent representatives: Elie Ferzli, Tamam Salam and individuals from the” Consultative Meeting “, and from the block of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party that previously put the name of Hariri to the President of the Republic in prior consultations.
