At least 15 dead in attack on eastern Afghanistan

The blast occurred at an administrative building that also includes military facilities in the Ghani Kil area of ​​Nangarhar state, according to the governor’s spokesman, Atallah Khogyani.

He added: “The car bomb exploded at the entrance of the building. Several armed men tried to enter the building after the attack, but were killed by the security forces.” Regional police spokesman Farid Khan confirmed the details of the attack. He noted that most of the dead were members of the Afghan security forces, but the death toll also included several civilians.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but Khan blamed the Taliban. The Taliban and the Islamic State are active in the region. And the Taliban stepped up their attacks across the country, despite the Islamic movement’s involvement in negotiations with Afghan government negotiators to reach a Doha peace deal.

On Tuesday, 14 civilians were killed, including seven women and four children, when a bomb exploded in Daikandi province in central Afghanistan, according to the Interior Ministry.
