While the Lebanese await the decision to be taken next Monday by the ministerial committee in charge of monitoring “Corona”, the frequency of warnings about the deterioration of the epidemic situation has increased, especially after Lebanon said goodbye to 2020, stating a record of more than 3,000 daily infections for the first time since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Health Affairs, Dr. Petra Khoury, said Corona’s contagion figures “will exceed expectations,” confirming the imperative of making quick decisions during 2021, speaking of “radical changes in the way to face challenges “. Khoury pointed out that Lebanon is on the verge of a difficult phase, especially in January and next February, since “there is no family in intensive care”, and explained that “the problem is very complex and Lebanon needs a change in the behavior of citizens. “.

Khoury explained that “the cruelty of the scenario during these two months lies in the beginning of the winter season and the gathering of people internally, in addition to the beginning of the flu season.”

Lebanon is expected to decide early next week to move to a full general shutdown, with the continuation of Corona’s daily count, with high figures recorded and in the middle of escaping compliance with preventive measures, which imprinted the holiday period. The number of cases registered on the first day of this Thursday, to 3507 injured, while 12 deaths were recorded.

The head of the interim government, Hassan Diab, had made it clear that in the event of an increase in the number of casualties, the decision would be made to close the country, adding that until now, “the number of wounded remains acceptable.”

The total number of Corona wounded in Lebanon exceeded 181,500, while the death toll exceeded 1,400.
