Apple’s latest fiscal quarter results show a decline in device sales and the company’s services hit record service revenue.

Apple has just announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2020, which span from the beginning of January to the end of March. The results showed that the company achieved revenue of $ 58.3 billion and an increase of only 1% over last year, thanks to the increase in service revenues and despite the decrease in sales of the hardware division.

Apple was able to achieve $ 13.3 billion in revenue for the services division and an increase of $ 2.2 billion compared to the same period last year.

But on the other hand, sales from the device division, led by iPhones, declined as sales totaled $ 28.9 billion in the second quarter of 2020 compared to $ 31 billion in the same period in 2019. The The company was able to achieve sales of $ 4.37 billion for iPad devices and $ 5.35 billion for Mac devices, and sales of $ 6.3 billion for other devices, such as smart watches, smart home devices, and other accessories.

As we used to do during the past few periods, Apple did not announce the number of devices sold in the period and only spoke about the value of total sales.

The company had expected revenue of between $ 63 billion and $ 67 billion during the second quarter, but the Corona virus changed expectations.

It is noteworthy that Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has already spoken about the difficulty of reaching the expected expectations after the consequences of the Corona virus.
